What is Imprint/Screen Printing?

Embossing or screen printing is a printing technique generally used for printing graphic designs on textiles, posters, ceramics, wood, and other materials. This technique involves transferring ink onto a specific area using a stencil or mold. Here are the basic principles of screen printing:

  1. Stencil Preparation: The first step is to prepare the stencil for the design to be printed. This is usually a stencil made on a thin fabric or special material. The empty parts of the stencil represent the open areas that allow ink to pass through.

  2. Preparation of the Printing Area: The material to be printed is prepared. For textile printing, the fabric usually needs to be stretched to create a smooth surface.

  3. Ink Application: The stencil is placed on the material to be printed. Then, ink is applied to the stencil using a blade or squeegee placed on top of the stencil. During this process, the ink only passes through the open areas of the stencil.

  4. Printing: The ink passes directly from the stencil to the material, transferring the design to a specific area on the material. This step can be repeated by repeatedly placing the stencil on the object to be printed and applying ink.

  5. Drying: After the printing process, the ink on the material is allowed to dry. In some cases, drying can be accelerated by heating or chemical processes.

Screen printing is a method commonly used to achieve durable and high-quality results. The ability to print large quantities thanks to reusable stencils has made this technique particularly popular in commercial production.
